Cautiously Optimistic

We turned in our paperwork to The CALL about 3 weeks ago. It takes 30-45 days to process it. That being said that would be between February 27th and March 13th. We will be doing the PRIDE training the first of April. This is the training you have to do to be foster parents. We got the email to sign up for the provider portal.

Shortly after we made the announcement that we were going to foster and adopt I was approached about two children who are in care currently and will be available for adoption soon. This is both heartbreaking, terrifying and exciting. The children’s birth mother spoke to their adoption specialist on our behalf and requested that we adopt them. Cue: Panic, Fear, Hope, Fear. I get attached to people very easily and the idea of these babies coming home to us forever is something I want more than anything in the world. This has been in the works for several weeks now but I was hesitant on sharing this publicly for fear of it making it not happen (completely logical I know). Our people have already shown us such love and support: emotionally, financially, time, etc.

Naturally, I am doing my best to be hopeful but cautiously optimistic. Things are in no way for sure at this point. However, they are definitely moving forward. The children’s caseworker and adoption specialist are watching for our application. I was informed it was possible that they could be placed with us before the PRIDE training as provisional foster parents since we do plan to adopt and the children’s birth mother requested us.
